Officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety provided details of an early morning head-on crash that happened in Upton County. The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 385, near mile marker 408, at about 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26.

Troopers say that a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 pickup truck was northbound when a southbound 2003 Chevrolet Malibu veered into oncoming traffic. As a result, the two vehicles collided head-on, according toNewsWest 9.

The 52-year-old man driving the Chevrolet Malibu died at the scene. According to the DPS, he is from McCarney. The 48-year-old male driver of the Chevrolet truck, also from McCarney, sustained serious injuries in the wreck. As a result, emergency personnel transported him to McCarney County Hospital. Medical personnel listed him in critical condition.
