Nine couples practiced different types of dances for almost a month at the Elegance Ballroom in Midland. These couples were gearing up for Dancing with the West Texas Stars which was held on February 7th of this year. Lori White the event chairwoman, looked for people in the area that wouldn’t mind potential embarrassment, and also would be able to raise a lot of money in donations for the cause. Mrs. White wasn’t alone in this cause, she had 18 dancers strut their stuff for the Crisis Center which provides shelter and sexual violence and education programs that promote safety and healthy relationships.
Mrs. White’s husband Robert White, was one of the dancers. Not only is he proficient in the court room, he is also smooth on the dance floor because him and his partner Libby Sharp won the coveted grand prize, a glass globe trophy. The grand prize was reserved for the couple who raised the most money, and other prizes were awarded to best male dancer, best female dancer, best costume and best showmanship.
