On Sunday, August 16, an alleged drunk driver lost control of his vehicle in Sheffield, where it smashed into a home with tragic results.
Allegedly Traveling at High Speeds
Authorities state that a 24-year-old male motorist was traveling down Main Street at allegedly excessive speed when he lost control of his Ford F-150 pickup truck which flew across a traffic island and into a home. Witnesses told NewsWest 9 that they allegedly heard the truck go by a number of times before the crash.
Vehicle Crashes into Home
The pickup truck hit the end of the home where children were sleeping. The father was on the porch, and he saw the truck hit his home. Authorities say that the impact killed a four-year-old boy instantly.
Police subsequently arrested the motorist. Authorities held him on charges of intoxication manslaughter and injury to a child.
